Do you think it would be right/ok to have a 'How much do you weigh today?' topic. I'm not sure. I don't want it to be triggering or competitive. Opinions?

I think as long you state it's not a competition and that its not to see who can get to the lowest weight and the thread it kept an eye on, then I don't see it being a huge problem with it.
